Beau Constantia

Chefs Warehouse at Beau Constantia

Tapas for Two | $$

Any foodie worth their salt will undoubtedly list Chef's Warehouse at Beau Constantia as a Cape Town must. With sweeping views over the Constantia valley, this farm is not to be missed. It is set high up on the slopes of Constantia Nek and offers some of the best views of the vineyards in the area. The wines are outstanding and an afternoon of wine tasting at this boutique winery is hard to beat.

The acclaimed Chef's Warehouse, offering sharing plates for two, is a real treat. The signature experience offers 8 plates over 3 courses and is every bit as exceptional as I had imagined. You can add bread and olives or oysters to start, both of which I highly recommend. There is quite a lot to get through even though sharing, so be sure you save space right to the very end. And if there is room for a pudding, a few special treats to finish.

The Chef in charge running the kitchen hails from the The Test Kitchen, Ivor Jones, who keeps the menu interesting, fun and fresh with seasonal changes from time to time. One thing you can be sure of is 8 plates of utter deliciousness. In fact, there isn’t much time to savour any one dish, as I suspect you may be defending your half of the bowl from your dining partner.

To be honest the tapas revolution seems rather last season, however this is a must visit for anyone living or visiting the city, the only trouble will be getting a reservation. Good luck!
