The Bistro @Klein Constantia

1685

Dating back to 1685 and described as one of the world’s most beautiful wine estates, Klein Constantia is set amidst ancient trees on the upper foothills of the Constantiaberg, with views across False Bay…

Bistro | $$

A French-inspired bistro on one of the oldest wine farms in the Constantia Valley. The menu is small and seasonal, with the focus on the integrity of the ingredients and sourcing the best local produce.

The Cordon Bleau chef Graham Davies, has travelled extensively and is passionate about French and Italian cuisine, so he aims to showcase the rich culinary history of South Africa with his strong European influence. The menu changes often, so don't get too attached to a particular dish as I have with the gratinated escargot, simply sublime. The creamy peri-peri chicken livers were also a treat, perfectly paired with the Riesling. My convivial lunch partner had the salmon salad, and the pork to follow, both delightful. There is an extensive wine list, however I would suggest you opt for the pairing option.

A cozy winter's sojourn or a summer's lunch under the jacaranda trees, accompanied by the estate's wines will be time well spent. You will leave satiated and happy, with plans to return soon.

They are running a winter special at R 265 pp for two courses (Mon-Fri only), book here
