A private escape nestled in the small and picturesque Klein Karoo town of Montagu. The historic house, dating back to the 18th Century has been lovingly transformed into a four bedroom guesthouse. There are two residences, 30 Bath and 20 Bath, both with two bedrooms. One can book just a room, or request exclusive use of the whole house.
Spaces are filled with objects, furniture and art that transcends the concept of time. The breakfast table celebrates produce from the area and organic eggs from the happy hens that roam the garden and breakfast glasses are filled with freshly pressed citrus, grown in large terracotta pots in the citrus garden. There are no chocolates on your pillow, nor crowds of people, it is all about simplicity and beauty.
Hein and Jacques have left no detail unturned and in their words "We focus on the quality of everyday life and want for every moment to become a cherished memory until your return. For us, as for guests, this is home."
The Homestead falls part of Hemelhuijs, making food the heart of the experience. From the smell of freshly baked bread to the making of delicious preserves, tea time treats, an afternoon drink or a late night sip from the home made digestives, you will be delighted.
